Yohan Lainesse Lost in the First Round of UFC Fight Night j1o5a

The Quebecer Yohan Lainesse lost in the first round to Mike Malott via submission in his third UFC fight on Saturday.

Lainesse recognised right away that his opponent would be a difficult opponent in a contest between two Canadians.

Malott put pressure at the start of the fight and he managed to throw Lainesse to the ground during the first engagement.

Once in a dominant position, Malott was able to complete the triangle choke and Lainesse had no choice but to capitulate.

The fight was stopped 4 minutes 15 seconds from the initial engagement for what is already a ninth win in the first round for Malott.

Lainesse bounced back at UFC 279 with a split decision win over Darian Weeks after a loss to Gabriel Green in his UFC debut.

While Malott has now won his last five fights, two of which came in the first minute. This was his second matchup in the UFC organisation.

“I’ve got a ton of respect for Yohan. We’re friends. We’ve trained together before. I hope we can train together again.” Mallot said.

Malott also urged the UFC to return to Canada. The promotion has not held a Canadian show since September 2019 in Vancouver.

In what was to be the gala final, Nikita Krylov  had to forfeit before his clash in front of  Ryan Spann l.

Krylov showed up at the venue for his fight, but indicated shortly before the start of the main card at 7 p.m. that he was unable to fight as he is ill.

In the last fight of the night, Brendan Allen put on a show with a third-round submission win over Andre Muniz Sergipano.

Allen powerfully sent his opponent to the ground on the final push. He then forced his rival to retire to sign the win.
