Martis Own-Goal helps Hotspurs steal a 2-1 win over Liverpool! 1z1z44

Latest incoming from the ongoing Premier League Season, Tottenham Hotspurs pulled off an amazing fighting victory over arch nemesis Liverpool at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday.

Playing in front of a packed home crowd, the 2-1 victory has helped Tottenham move up the rankings and take the second spot in the league standings. The game was pretty evenly matched throughout, with Son Heung-Min scoring the opener for the Spurs and Cody Gakpo equalizing for Liverpool who were reduced to a 9-man squad after Curtis Jones and Diego Jota were sent off in the 26th and 69th minute.

The Liverpool side did extremely well to keep their opponents at bay despite losing two key players. The match then went down to the wire until tragedy struck Liverpool for the third time. With 7 minutes added as extra time, Joel Matip scored an own goal in the 96 minute, allowing the Spurs to walk away with a lucky victory.

The Spurs fans are belting out Angels, swaying from side to side and Liverpool look devastated, as you’d expect after such a coolly heroic defensive performance.

Taking advantage of Jones being sent off in the 26th minute, the hosts quickly shifted gears with the Korean striker Son netting in the opening goal for the Spurs in the 36th minute. With five minutes added as stoppage time, Cody Gakpo finally broke through with just seconds left in the second half, getting the much needed equalizer for Liverpool, but also injuring himself in the process.

Alisson made two superb saves early in the second half, but Spurs created nothing after Liverpool went down to nine men – until the closing moments of the match when Martis inadvertently slammed in Pedro Porro’s cross into his own net in the 96th minute. The match that was progressing towards an obvious draw, turned into a Hotspur victory just seconds before the final referee whistle. The inspirational victory has helped The Totts to move up to the second spot in the Premier League rankings just behind toppers Manchester City. Though both Tottenham Hotspurs and Arsenal have 17 points from 7 games, Spurs have jumped above Arsenal to take the second place owing to a superior goal difference, closely followed by Liverpool taking the fourth place with 16 points.
