The Brazilian national team successfully beat the Paraguayan national team with a landslide score of 4-1 in the second match of Group D of the 2024 Copa America which was held at Allegiant Stadium, Las Vegas, Saturday (29/6/2024).
Brazil coach Dorival Junior made a number of changes in this match. Savio got the chance to start, ing Rodrygo and Vinicius Junior on the front lines.
The match lasted 30 minutes, Brazil received a penalty after Andres Cubas made a handball in the forbidden box. Unfortunately, Lucas Paqueta’s penalty failed to become a goal.
Paqueta paid for his mistake four minutes later. The West Ham midfielder provided a brilliant assist which Vinicius converted into a goal.
In the 43rd minute, young star Savinho increased Brazil’s lead. Uni’s goal was reviewed by VAR before it was finally approved. The team’s injury time lasted five minutes, Vinicius scored his second goal to give Brazil a 3-0 lead at halftime.
Just two minutes into the second half, Paraguay succeeded in reducing the deficit through Omar Alderete’s long-range shot. Paraguay started the second half very well.
Unfortunately, Paraguay’s back line played carelessly again in their own area. Mathias Villasanti did handball which resulted in Brazil’s second penalty. This time Paqueta’s execution was a successful goal.
Paraguay’s suffering became even more complete after Andres Cubas received a red card from the referee for committing a hard foul in the 81st minute. The 4-1 score lasted until the end of the match.
Thanks to this result, Brazil is now in second place with 4 points, behind Colombia who previously beat Costa Rica 3-0. Brazil and Colombia will clash in the final match on Wednesday (3/7/2024).
Vinicius Junior was chosen as the best player from the Brazilian National Team’s 4-1 victory over the Paraguay National Team.
Vinicius comes into the 2024 Copa America with an extraordinary reputation. He has just led Real Madrid to win La Liga and the Champions League for the 2023/2024 season.
Unfortunately, in the first match versus Costa Rica Vinicius failed to show his class. He made it difficult to dismantle Costa Rica’s layered defense.
Vinicius finally shone in the second match. The 23 year old player performed extraordinary on the front lines by taking full advantage of the two opportunities he got in the first half.
Vinicius has now announced himself as a serious candidate to win the 2024 Copa America top scorer title.
