Argentine superstar, Lionel Messi has just confirmed the individual title as the best FIFA player in 2022. This achievement makes La Pulga (Lionel Messi’s nickname) feel happy. Moreover, Lionel Messi managed to beat two of his competitors, namely Kylian Mbapee and Karim Benzema.
“It’s great to be here again, among the top three. Mbappe and Benzema have had a great year. I want to thank my team-mates, today we are here with Scaloni and Dibu Martinez representing them,” Lionel Messi said as quoted by TYC Sport, Tuesday (28/2/2023).
Furthermore, Lionel Messi’s achievement is proof of what the Argentine national team has achieved. The former Barcelona player is really happy with this achievement which is considered a fantastic year, because he can lead La Albiceleste – the nickname of the Argentina National Team – to win the 2022 World Cup.
“This is a public acknowledgment of everything we do, without which we would not be here. This year has been crazy for me, I was able to achieve my dream after fighting so hard, looking for it and insisting.”
He is also very grateful for his achievements. Moreover, Lionel Messi won his individual title at a no longer young age, namely 35 years.
“In the end it came and it was the most beautiful thing that happened to me in my career. This is every player’s dream and very few can achieve it. Grateful I can get it. Finally,” he continued.
Not to forget, Lionel Messi expressed his gratitude to his beloved family. In fact, while speaking on stage, he ordered his three children who were watching to get a good night’s sleep.
“I want to thank my family, the people of Argentina for living a beautiful moment that will last a lifetime. I send kisses to my kids, Thiago, Mateo and Ciro, who are watching and I love them. And sleep now,” added La Pulga.
