Kylian Mbappe doesn’t want to think about the potential for Real Madrid to meet Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League this season. He’s afraid it won’t happen.
Real Madrid will meet Arsenal in the Champions League quarter-finals. If they can knock out the Gunners, Los Blancos will face the winner of the PSG vs Aston Villa match.
This means that Mbappe could face PSG in the semifinals. The French striker previously played for Les Parisiens for seven seasons.
“The worst mistake you can make is to think about that. It reminds me of last year, when everyone assumed there would be a PSG vs Real Madrid final. And in the end, we didn’t make it,” Mbappe told Le Parisien.
PSG, which was strengthened by Mbappe last season, failed in the semifinals. The French giants were knocked out by Borussia Dortmund.
Mbappe doesn’t want that to happen to him in the match. So, Mbappe only wants to think about Arsenal regarding the match in the Champions League.
“So I only think about Arsenal, who will be our opponents in the quarterfinals, and my team, Real Madrid,” Mbappe asserted.
Real Madrid will visit Arsenal’s headquarters on April 9. A week later it will be El Real’s turn to host The Gunners.
Kylian Mbappe left Paris Saint-Germain leaving behind a controversy. However, Mbappe emphasized that he would not hold a grudge.
Mbappe is suing PSG over his salary when he left for Real Madrid. The French star felt that he had not been paid 55 million euros, which was part of a loyalty bonus.
The French League (LFP) even intervened and decided that Mbappe was entitled to the remaining payment from PSG. The feud became more intense and made PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi upset.
Mbappe itted that he did not hold a grudge against his old club. He is also ready to shake hands with the PSG President if they meet again.
“Of course I will shake hands with Nasser if we meet PSG in the Champions League. I am not the type of person who only sees the negative side,” said Mbappe as quoted by Managing Madrid.
“I know how to be grateful for what others have given me in life, both professionally and personally,” he continued.
