Tyron Woodley believes GSP would return for Conor McGregor 3t482s

Most recently, welterweight champion Tyron Woodley believes that the middleweight champion Georges St-Pierre would return to the Octagon for Conor McGregor.

“I think a fight against Conor could bring him back. He is a smaller opponent. He has a good left that St-Pierre could predict and he could prepare himself accordingly.” Woodley said.

“He would also have many opportunities to bring the Irishman to the ground. I think a fight against McGregor would bring in a huge amount of money.

GSP vacated his middleweight title after defeating Michael Bisping last November while suffering from colitis. He has long been the welterweight champion and the window seemed open for a return to this division.

The Chosen One, however, does not have false hopes, because he believes that if he had to face the Canadian champion, the fight would have already taken place.

“George might have faced me possibly after Demian Maia. He could have also just before. He could have fought with me after his victory over Bisping. He does not want to fight me and I do not blame him.” Woodley said.

“I would not want to face either if I were in his place. He has already accomplished all he needs in this sport. He got hold of two belts and made a fortune. He has nothing to prove.” he added.

When asked about many top fighters in the UFC have clearly their actual dislike for what they do, the American fighter told his dislike for the fight game.

“I don’t really even like fighting, to be honest. I’m just good at it. I don’t like the politics behind it, I don’t like the martial arts aspect that has been taken away from it, I don’t like the disrespect to the sport,” Woodley said.

“They are not really training hard. They don’t look the part – I think a professional athlete should look a certain way.

“I really just don’t like this generation of fighters that watch a move on TV, on YouTube, and they go in and try to do it. They don’t drill repetitions, they don’t to actually put in the work.” he added.

The 35-year-old is now recovering from a surgery on his right shoulder in late December. He expects to be back in training in two months.
