Xtreme Gaming defeated regional rivals Team Tidebound in the Asian Champions League, which served as the Chinese qualifier for the Esports World Cup 2025.
Chinese Dota 2 powerhouse Xtreme Gaming have officially qualified for the Esports World Cup 2025’s Dota 2 tournament after winning the Asian Champions League 2025, which served as the Chinese qualifier for the main event.
The Asian Champions League, put together by ESL Gaming, DreamHack, and Hero Esports, was held live at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai. Unlike most tournaments, this one was quick. It wrapped up in a single day with just four participating teams clashing in a compact single-elimination format.
As expected, Xtreme and Team Tidebound, two of China’s top teams, were both in the mix. While Xtreme weren’t exactly the underdog in this matchup, their win still carries weight–especially since Tidebound, who were recently signed by All Gamers Global, were recently named one of the eight directly-invited teams to The International (TI) 2025.
In the Asian Champions League, Xtreme edged out Tidebound in a tight 3-2 grand finals and walked away with US$100,000 in prize money. More importantly, they locked in a spot at the Esports World Cup 2025’s Dota 2 tournament, which offers a massive US$3 million prize pool.
It looks like Xtreme’s recent roster changes, which even cost them their ESL One Raleigh 2025 slot, are finally paying off. Their win over Tidebound is also a strong sign ahead of the TI 2025 regional qualifiers, where they are expected to be the strongest favorites in the Chinese regional qualifier.
Xtreme Gaming are the sixth team to qualify for EWC 2025’s Dota 2 event
With this result, Xtreme s a growing list of qualified teams for the EWC 2025’s Dota 2 tournament, which so far include PARIVISION, Team Spirit, BetBoom Team, Team Falcons, Team Liquid, and Gaimin Gladiators.
There are still nine spots up for grabs in this Riyadh spectacle. The final three teams in the Top 10 of the ESL Pro Tour (EPT) Leaderboard will earn the coveted direct invites, soon to be determined by the DreamLeague Season 26.
Meanwhile, six more teams are to qualify through regional qualifiers (excluding the already-concluded China qualifier) in Western Europe, Eastern Europe, MESWA, Southeast Asia, North America, and South America. The qualifiers are set to take place from 5 to 13 June.
